VLX: Sending EDID to transmitters
Last Updated 2 years ago

With VLX, we use a generic EDID that allows a 4K input to pass through to the decoder. In some cases when the EDID is not sent, you may get discoloration, sync issues or no audio.

There are a couple different ways to send EDID with VLX. If you do not have IPBaseT Manager installed, you can navigate to the web page of a decoder on your network in your browser. Go to the remote tab and select the encoder that you wish to send the EDID to and click "Send EDID". Repeat this process for each encoder in the system.

Another method is through IPBaseT Manager. Right click a decoder and click "Get EDID". Type a name for the EDID file in the window and click "Save to File". Your browser will download this into your local downloads folder.

Next, click "Set EDID" on the encoder and select the EDID file from your downloads folder. Click "Upload" to push the EDID file. Repeat the upload process for all transmitters.

If you have different displays with mismatched resolutions, you generally want to send the EDID of the lowest resolution display to your encoders, though you can also use scaling on the decoder to downscale high resolution inputs to 1080p by navigating to the "Functions" tab on a decoder's web page and selecting a resolution. The decoder will require a reboot in order for a change to take effect.
