IPX: Sending EDID to transmitters
Last Updated 2 years ago

With IPX, we use a generic EDID that allows a 4K input to pass through to the decoder. In some cases when the EDID is not sent, you may get discoloration, sync issues or no audio.

To send EDID with IPX, right click a decoder in IPBaseT Manager and click settings. Navigate to the "HDMI Monitor" tab and save the EDID file. Make sure that you have a display plugged into the HDMI output on the receiver and that it is set to stream mode (both HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 should be lit on the front panel).

Next, right click the encoder and navigate to the "HDMI Decoder" tab. Click on "File to Load" and select the EDID file that you downloaded. Then click "Save to Device". Your source device (plugged into your encoder) should now read that it is plugged into the display that your decoder is connected to and will send video timings accordingly. Repeat this process with the saved EDID for all encoders in the system.

If you have different displays with mismatched resolutions, you generally want to send the EDID of the lowest resolution display to your encoders, as a 4K input will not display on a native 1080p screen. If you are using IPX-TC2, you can set the receiver to downscale it's output to match the display's resolution using genlock scaling.
