If your VLX is in "Secondary Mode", you can access them using their .local discovery addresses if you do not know the IP address. The format is [hostname]-[mode]-[host ID].local

ex: Unit with SN SNA0123-4567 and default "vlx-series" hostname

Encoder : http://vlx-series-enc-4567.local

Decoder : http://vlx-series-dec-4567.local

Secondary: http://vlx-series-sec-4567.local

By default the units pull a DHCP address if a server is present, else they fall back into a 169.254.x.x. link local IP.
